New Life at Macclesfield’s West Park Cafe

West Park, in the centre of Macclesfield next to the big Sainsbury’s, has been a peaceful place for residents to relax since the mid-nineteenth century. It’s lovely to walk around the ornamental gardens, there is a small museum in the grounds, biking and skateboard areas, and a fantastic outdoor play area for children of all ages.

When my kids were little I spent a lot of time in West Park, so I was happy to hear earlier this year that the cafe (that had sat empty for a few years) has been reopened by a couple of young entrepreneurs, Louis and Ben. They gave the place a deep clean, a fresh coat of paint, installed wifi and then assembled a team of local people to get the business going again.

Since then the cafe has developed an awesome menu and become an increasingly popular place to meet and hang out; Louis and Ben are busy building links with the community (there’s a live music event planned for September 22nd at 3pm) and they have built a refreshingly vibrant Facebook page to give you a flavour of the place before you leave the house. Families with young children can hire the West Park Cafe as a party venue, and there are catering options and a bouncy castle available too.
