Around 12 months ago we, Janet and Janine, decided to provide an opportunity for expectant parents to access antenatal classes with a difference. We came up with Here2maternity birth classes.
Maternity units in the North West are undergoing massive restructuring and 5 smaller maternity units are set to close reducing the facilities to many women in the area.
We are Registered Midwives who are passionate about providing Mums and Dads with relevant, up to date advice and information to prepare them for labour, the birth and coping with their new baby. Antenatal classes or parentcraft as it is sometimes referred to have been taught in the NHS, in the same format for many years and we at Here2maternity thought it was time to update and move forward bringing researched based, honest information in a luxury environment.( without the price tag).
Our classes are run on a Sunday in hotels in Cheshire and we hope focus on the important aspects of pain relief, birth positions, how to support your partner in labour, feeding options, settling baby etc., but in a fun, interactive way.
A major part of our ethos is to involve fathers each and every step of the way as many dads feel neglected and often ignored during their partner's pregnancy and we address this with providing dads with practical hands on baby skills and demonstrations. We also give them time and opportunity to discuss their fears and anxieties which we believe is somewhat lacking. Mums are treated to some time out and receive a pamper session with qualified antenatal massage therapists.
As well as all the important bits, we have a variety of guest speakers invited along to talk about anything from skincare to yoga, baby slings to choosing the right nursery!
We provide a delicious two course carvery lunch in the restaurant, unlimited refreshments throughout the day, and two Midwives on hand all day to answer questions and allay fears.
To celebrate our first year we are offering our full day class for a reduced price of £190 which matches the new government grant payable to all pregnant mums after the 26th week of pregnancy.
